E-bikes powering the 'micromobility' movement
There are many reasons to get excited about the “micromobility” revolution, most notably, e-bikes.
There are many reasons to get excited about the “micromobility” revolution, most notably, e-bikes.
The downside? There’s zero infrastructure, people who’ve never ridden a bike are cruising in and out of traffic at 20 mph, or being unsafe. (And the all those batteries going to the landfill.) But for now, let’s talk about its potential:
Sustainability: Micromobility devices like e-bikes are environmentally friendly, producing zero emissions and reducing traffic congestion.
Last-Mile Solution: E-bikes excel as last-mile transportation options, bridging the gap between public transit and final destinations.
Reduced Congestion: Micromobility can reduce the number of cars on the road, easing traffic congestion in cities.
Cost-Effective: Micromobility is often more cost-effective than owning and maintaining a personal vehicle.
I’ve been pricing and researching e-bikes over the summer (you should see my Facebook feed) and, like many products, you can spend a little or a lot (and I mean, a lot, we’re talking thousands of dollars here, folks). During my research I stumbled upon this informative webinar below. It’s broken out by industry and consumer - it gives the big picture trends but also tips on buying your own e-bike (there’s a reason that one e-bike you’ve been wanting is only $800).
